Screening is chosen by where the cable runs, not by data rate alone. The table below compares the three structures the LBS catalogue lists for Cat5e and Cat6A, and the blocks below it open the constructions that match each case.
| Construction | Screening | LBS constructions | Where the catalogue lists it |
|---|---|---|---|
| U/UTP | Unshielded. The Cat6A version adds an internal cross-filler spline that physically separates the four pairs. | Cat5e UTP: 24 AWG solid OFC conductors, PE insulation, 6.0 mm grey PVC jacket. Cat6A UTP: 23 AWG solid OFC conductors, PE insulation, blue EPVC jacket, 6.2 / 6.4 / 7.2 mm. | Fixed engineering installation, LAN networks, device control, recording studios, mobile setups. |
| F/UTP | One overall AL-foil screen over the twisted pairs, with a drain wire bonded to it - an OFC drain wire on the Cat5e version, a tinned-copper drain wire on the Cat6A version. | Cat5e FTP: 24 AWG, 6.0 mm grey PVC jacket, nylon ripcord. Cat6A FTP: 23 AWG, 7.2 mm blue PVC jacket, cross-filler spline. | High-noise environments where external EMI and RFI have to be isolated on the route. |
| S/FTP | Foil screening plus an overall tinned-copper braid. On the 10G version each pair carries its own foil shield and the braid is applied over the bundle. | Cat5e SFTP: AL-foil Mylar plus high-density tinned-copper / CCAM braid, 24 AWG, 6.2 mm grey. Cat6A SFTP: foil plus overall tinned-copper braid, 23 AWG, 7.8 mm blue. Cat6A SFTP 10G (LBS6ASSTP-C6A): individual pair foil plus overall braid, Foam-PE insulation, 8.0 mm blue. | High-EMI industrial sites, stage performances and touring; long-distance high-bandwidth Pro-AV and broadcast networks for the 10G construction. |
U/UTP is the simplest build: twisted pairs, PE insulation and an overall jacket, with no screen to bond at either end. The Cat6A version adds an internal cross-filler spline that physically separates the four pairs, and both the Cat5e and Cat6A versions keep a nylon ripcord for jacket stripping. It is the construction the catalogue lists for fixed engineering installation, LAN networks, device control, recording studios and mobile setups.
Request a Cable Specification →F/UTP keeps the same twisted-pair core and covers it with one overall AL-foil screen bonded to a drain wire, so the screen can be terminated at the connector. The catalogue lists this structure for isolating external electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference in high-noise environments, and it keeps the ripcord plus the flame-retardant, wear-resistant PVC jacket.
Request a Cable Specification →S/FTP stacks an overall tinned-copper braid on top of the foil screening. The Cat5e version uses AL-foil Mylar plus a high-density tinned-copper / CCAM braid and is listed for high-EMI industrial sites, stage performances and touring. The Cat6A version combines foil with the overall braid on 23 AWG conductors, and LBS6ASSTP-C6A shields each pair with its own foil under an overall braid with Foam-PE insulation for 10 Gigabit networks and long-distance Pro-AV and broadcast runs.

BUYER ROUTES
Each route page sets out what that buyer has to settle before a quotation is issued. Open your route, or send the requirement straight to the factory.
The wholesale route sets out what the range covers - the series, core counts and conductor sizes - for distributors and resellers buying in bulk.
