Cat6A UTP for Gigabit and AV-over-IP Horizontal Runs

This Cat6A UTP cable is the unshielded option in the LBS Cat6A family. It delivers the same 23AWG solid 4N OFC conductor and cross-filler spline construction as the shielded Cat6A versions, with a simpler jacket that is easier to terminate in patch panels and wall outlets. Cat6A UTP is a practical choice for horizontal cabling inside buildings where data and AV-over-IP runs are separated from power and lighting circuits, and where an unshielded construction is easier to terminate at patch panels and outlets than a shielded one.

Q: Does Cat6A UTP support 10Gbps?
A: The LBS 2026 catalog lists this unshielded Cat6A construction as Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Mbps / 1 Gbps) with transmission bandwidth up to 250 MHz. The shielding choice affects noise immunity, not the Gigabit rating. Where a 10 Gbps / 500 MHz backbone is specified, LBS supplies the Cat6A S/FTP 10G construction (LBS6ASSTP-C6A).

Conduit and tray fit: what the published O.D. decides

The published Jacket O.D. of this model is 6.2 / 6.4 / 7.2 mm, so a tight conduit has to be sized on the largest of the three values and confirmed against the specification table quoted with the order. At a 40 % fill, a conduit with a 25 mm internal diameter takes six cables at 6.2–6.4 mm and four at 7.2 mm. Moving one step up the shielding scale costs conduit capacity, because the same family is published at 7.2 mm for FTP, 7.8 mm for SFTP and 8.0 mm for the S-FTP 10G model.
