Four-Core 4.0 mm² Jacketed Speaker Cable (12.5 mm Jacket O.D.)
The LBSRVS-4X4.0 carries four OFC conductors of 4.0 mm² (12 AWG) inside PVC insulation and an overall PVC jacket with a published outer diameter of 12.5 mm. Four individually insulated conductors make two loudspeaker circuits — one positive and one negative conductor per circuit — so this model feeds two loudspeakers, or one stereo pair, from a single pull.
Where the LBSRVS-4X4.0 Fits in a Project
- Two loudspeaker circuits in one pull: a stereo pair or two adjacent loudspeakers wired from one amplifier location, without running two separate two-core cables.
- Project installation: permanent runs inside walls, ceilings and trunking where grouping two circuits saves conduit space and one pull instead of two.
- Fixed audio wiring: zone wiring where the number of circuits per location is known in advance — two circuits per cable keeps the jacket count and the termination plan simple.
The 4.0 mm² Section Across the LBSRVS Jacketed Range
Every row publishes the same 4.0 mm² (12 AWG) conductor, so the section question is answered once and only the number of circuits per pull changes. The 4-core model exists at 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 4.0 and 6.0 mm²; this page is the 4.0 mm² member of that set.
Specifying LBSRVS-4X4.0
- Construction: 4 conductors, 4.0 mm² (12 AWG), OFC conductor, PVC insulation, overall PVC jacket, jacket O.D. 12.5 mm.
- Termination: four conductors terminate as two pairs; a four-pole connector carries two circuits, and which pin pair serves which circuit is set out in NL2 vs NL4 vs NL8 speaker twist lock connectors.
- Section for the run: the rule that decides the conductor section from run length and load is in how to choose speaker cable gauge; the 12 AWG conversion is in mm² to AWG.
- Shielding: this is an unshielded jacketed construction — when a run needs a shield, the decision is in do speaker cables need shielding?
LBSRVS-4X4.0 Buying FAQ
Can the four cores be split into two independent circuits?
Yes. The four cores are individually insulated inside the overall jacket, so they can be fanned out and terminated as two separate circuits at each end. Polarity marking should be confirmed before termination so the two circuits cannot be crossed.
Two-core or four-core for a stereo pair?
Two 2-core cables and one 4-core cable carry the same two circuits; the 4-core version reduces the number of jackets and pulls, which matters in conduit. The section itself is decided separately, by run length and load.
Is a reinforced version available at this section and core count?
Yes — the LBSRVH range publishes a reinforced main speaker cable in 4-core 4.0 mm² for touring and rental duty: see LBSRVH-4X4.0. The LBSRVS model on this page is the jacketed standard construction.
Can jacket printing, colour, cut length and packaging be agreed for a project?
Construction, jacket colour, printing, length, packaging and branding can be reviewed according to the confirmed product and project quantity for OEM / ODM projects. Send the model, specification, quantity and destination to the LBS sales team.

This size on the published LBSRVS ladder
Every size below is a published model in the same construction, read from each model's own specification sheet. This page is the 4.0 mm² size (12 AWG) with 4 conductors and a 12.5 mm jacket.
4 conductors carry 2 loudspeaker circuits: one positive and one negative conductor per circuit. A two-pole connector carries one circuit, a four-pole connector two — the pin-set rule is explained in NL2 vs NL4 vs NL8: Speaker Twist Lock Connectors.
In the same 4-core construction: The next size down is 3.0 mm² (13 AWG) with a 12 mm jacket. The next size up is 6.0 mm² (10 AWG) with a 14 mm jacket.
Cross-section, not the model number, sets conductor resistance and therefore the loss over a given run: the length-versus-gauge table is in the speaker cable gauge guide, and the mm² / AWG conversion is set out in mm² to AWG.
