Two-Core 4.0 mm² Jacketed Speaker Cable (11 mm Jacket O.D.)
The LBSRVS-2X4.0 carries two OFC conductors of 4.0 mm² (12 AWG) inside PVC insulation and an overall PVC jacket with a published outer diameter of 11 mm. Two conductors make one loudspeaker circuit — one positive and one negative — so this model is the single-feed unit of the LBSRVS jacketed range at the 4.0 mm² section, and the building block that the 4-core, 6-core and 8-core 4.0 mm² models repeat.
Where the LBSRVS-2X4.0 Fits in a Project
- Single loudspeaker feeds where the section is fixed by the specification: projects that standardise on 4.0 mm² (12 AWG) for every loudspeaker line use this model for the one-speaker runs and a multi-core model for the grouped runs, all in the same jacket family.
- Sound reinforcement: amplifier-to-loudspeaker runs in sound reinforcement and fixed audio wiring where a heavier conductor is specified than 1.5 / 2.5 mm².
- Subwoofer and low-impedance feeds: one circuit per cable, terminated as a pair; the 11 mm jacket sits between the 2 × 2.5 mm² (9.8 mm) and the 4 × 4.0 mm² (12.5 mm) models in the same range.
The 4.0 mm² Section Across the LBSRVS Jacketed Range
4.0 mm² is the largest section outside the 6.0 mm² models and is published in four core counts. Core count changes how many circuits travel in one pull; the conductor stays 4.0 mm² (12 AWG) in every row.
Below 4.0 mm² the same single-circuit construction is published as LBSRVS-2X2.5 (14 AWG) and LBSRVS-2X1.5 (16 AWG), and above it as LBSRVS-2X6.0 (10 AWG).
Specifying LBSRVS-2X4.0
- Construction: 2 conductors, 4.0 mm² (12 AWG), OFC conductor, PVC insulation, overall PVC jacket, jacket O.D. 11 mm.
- Termination: two conductors terminate as one pair into a two-pole connector; the pin-set rule for a four-pole connector is explained in NL2 vs NL4 vs NL8 speaker twist lock connectors.
- Section for the run: whether 4.0 mm² is the right section for a given length and load is decided by the rule in how to choose speaker cable gauge; the conversion to 12 AWG is in mm² to AWG.
- Reinforced alternative: where the run leaves a fixed installation and travels with a rig, the tour-grade reinforced construction in the LBSRVH range exists at the same 4.0 mm² section.
LBSRVS-2X4.0 Buying FAQ
What decides between 2 × 4.0 mm² and 2 × 2.5 mm²?
The run length and the load the amplifier drives decide it, not the model number: longer runs and lower-impedance loads push the requirement up the section ladder. Send the run length, amplifier output per channel and loudspeaker impedance, and the section is confirmed against that rule.
Can this model feed several loudspeakers?
It carries one circuit (one positive and one negative conductor). Where several loudspeakers are wired in parallel on one line, the load on that circuit changes, which is a section question — the multi-core models in this range exist to run several separate circuits in one pull, not to increase the load on one circuit.
Does LBS publish the same section in a reinforced construction?
Yes — the LBSRVH range publishes a reinforced main speaker cable at 4.0 mm² for touring and rental use; the LBSRVS models on this page are the jacketed standard construction.
Can jacket printing, colour, cut length and packaging be agreed for a project?
Construction, jacket colour, printing, length, packaging and branding can be reviewed according to the confirmed product and project quantity for OEM / ODM projects. Send the model, specification, quantity and destination to the LBS sales team.
