Cable de par trenzado blindado FTP Cat6A. Blindaje de lámina de AL, cable de drenaje de cobre estañado, cubierta de PVC azul, D.E. 7,2 mm, 23 AWG sólido 4N OFC, ranura de relleno transversal, -20 a 70 C. 1Gbps/250MHz. Del catálogo LBS 2026.
Cat6A FTP for Shielded 10Gbps Runs
This Cat6A FTP cable adds an aluminium-foil shield and tinned-copper drain wire over the 23AWG solid 4N OFC Cat6A core. The foil shield provides protection against external interference while the drain wire gives a clean termination point for the shield. Cat6A FTP is a practical middle option for 10Gbps horizontal runs where the cable passes near power feeders or lighting circuits but a full double-shielded SFTP cable is not required.
Compare the shielding levels in the LBS Cat6A family:Cat6A UTP(unshielded), this FTP (foil), andCat6A SFTP(foil plus braid). SeeCable Ethernet UTP, FTP y SFTPfor the full comparison, and theLBS6ASSTP-C6A Cat6A S/FTP 10G cablefor the double-shielded backbone option.

10Gbps data backbones, AV-over-IP (Dante, AVB, NDI), building network risers, PoE+ cameras and general commercial network installation where foil shielding is specified.
Cat6A FTP FAQ
Q: What is the difference between Cat6A FTP and Cat6A SFTP?
A: FTP uses one aluminium-foil shield over the core. SFTP uses foil plus an overall tinned-copper braid for double shielding, giving more noise immunity in electrically noisy environments.
Q: Does Cat6A FTP support 10Gbps?
A: Yes. Cat6A is specified for 10GBASE-T up to 100 metres; the shield type affects noise immunity, not the 10G capability.
Q: Can the drain wire be terminated in standard RJ45?
A: The drain wire is intended to be connected to the shield at the patch panel or equipment end. Your installer should follow the connector manufacturer’s shielded termination instructions.

AV over IP Network Cable Selection
In an AV-over-IP project — Dante audio, NDI video, SDVoE or control networks — the Cat6A FTP construction is often the practical choice for links that run through equipment racks, cable trays and corridors where some electrical noise exists but a full double-shielded cable is not required. Three selection rules apply:
- Shielding level follows the environment.Clean dedicated AV network runs can use Cat6A UTP; runs near dimmers, lighting racks or power feeders should use at least FTP; stage floors, touring racks and high-EMI locations should use Cat6A SFTP.
- Category follows the protocol.Gigabit audio control systems run comfortably on Cat6A at 250 MHz; video-heavy systems (4K over NDI or SDVoE) benefit from the 10 Gbps / 500 MHz Cat6A S/FTP backbone.
- Keep one construction per link.Mixing UTP and FTP sections on the same run creates grounding and performance questions — standardise the family on one shielding level per zone.
The LBS Cat6A family covers all three shielding levels with the same 23 AWG solid OFC core and cross-filler spline:Cat6A UTP, thisCat6A FTP,Cat6A SFTPy elCat6A S/FTP 10G. For a full AV-over-IP specification walkthrough, see theAV over IP network cable guide.
