For a cable buyer, the value of the show is not the stands — it is the twenty minutes you get to put a specification sheet in front of a factory and watch them either answer precisely or change the subject.

This guide covers the 2027 dates and venue, and more usefully, what to check at a cable exhibitor’s booth so the trip produces a purchase decision instead of a bag of catalogues.

Prolight + Sound Guangzhou 2027: dates and venue

Item

Detail

Dates

27–30 May 2027

Venue

China Import and Export Fair Complex, Guangzhou

Edition

25th

Previous edition

28–31 May 2026, recorded 111,065 visitors

The show runs alongside the lighting and AV halls, so cable buyers usually end up walking the sound halls and the lighting halls in the same day. That matters for specification: a DMX control cable and a loudspeaker cable sourced on the same trip have to survive the same truck, the same crew and the same tour schedule.

Why a cable order placed at a show goes wrong later

Most cable disputes that surface weeks after a show are not about quality. They are about a word that meant two things. The common ones:

Word used on the stand

Two readings that both sound correct

“DMX cable”

One pair with a spiral shield, or two pairs with an overall braid — both are sold as DMX512 cable, and they behave differently in a daisy chain

“Speaker cable”

2 × 1.5 mm² with a figure-8 jacket, or 2 × 1.5 mm² with an overall jacket and a rip cord — same copper, different handling

“Cat6”

Built and printed to Cat6, or a Cat5e construction with a Cat6 label — the category is a claim until the datasheet shows conductor size and bandwidth

“OFC”

Oxygen-free copper as the conductor, or oxygen-free copper in the braid only

None of this is dishonesty. It is that a booth conversation runs on shorthand, and a purchase order runs on exact wording. The fix is to carry the exact wording with you.

What to carry into the hall

A single page, printed, per product you intend to buy. Four lines are enough:

Construction. Conductor count, conductor size in mm² or AWG, and whether the conductor is stranded or solid.

Screening. None, foil, braid, spiral, or a combination — and the coverage or lay if the supplier publishes it.

Jacket and use. Jacket material, outer diameter, and the environment: touring, fixed install, outdoor, or in-rack.

Delivery format. Reel, drum, pull box or coil, and the length per unit — 305 m and 500 m are not interchangeable when the cut list assumes one.

Hand that page across the table. A factory that builds the product will read it line by line and mark what they can and cannot do. A trading desk will nod at all four lines and quote from a list. The difference in response is the most useful thing you will learn at the show.

Five checks at a cable exhibitor’s booth

Ask for the model code, not the category. “Cat6” is a category; a model code is a specific build. LBS publishes its screened and unscreened network models as LBSFTP-C6A, LBSSFTP-C6A and LBSUTP-C6A. If the stand cannot give you a code, you cannot write a repeatable purchase order.

Ask which part of the cable the shield is on. For lighting control, LBS builds single-shielded DMX512 models — for example the 128 / 2 × 0.35 spiral-shielded construction — and double-shielded variants in the DMX and lighting control range. The shield type changes the capacitance and the way the cable behaves at the end of a long chain, so it belongs in the enquiry, not in the small print.

Ask to see the conductor, not the brochure. Strip-back samples on the counter tell you stranding, copper colour and whether the foil is bonded. A brochure photograph tells you nothing.

Ask what the factory does in-house. Extrusion, stranding, braiding and assembly are separate capabilities. For OEM work the question is which of them happen on the supplier’s own line — see how LBS describes its OEM and ODM process and its manufacturing and quality process.

Ask for the datasheet by email, not a photo of a screen. A datasheet you can file is a datasheet you can hold a supplier to. Anything sent as a photo of a monitor will not survive your own purchasing system.

Preparing the enquiry before you travel

Buyers who get the most from the show send the specification sheet two weeks ahead and book a slot. The stand then arrives prepared with the right samples, and the conversation starts at the fourth question instead of the first.

A workable pre-show enquiry has three parts: the construction page described above, the annual or project volume by model, and the delivery format. What it should not contain is a target price sent before the specification is fixed — it turns a technical conversation into a negotiation and you lose the information you came for.

If the cable is part of a system — loudspeaker lines, DMX runs, networked audio — send the whole run, not just the cable. Termination, connector type and the number of joints change the answer more than the copper does. LBS publishes its connector range separately for exactly this reason.

LBS AudioCable at the show

LBS (Linkwell Broaden Sonitive) Guangdong Cable Technology Co., Ltd. has exhibited at Prolight + Sound Guangzhou for three consecutive editions — 2024, 2025 and 2026 — and has held the same stand, 2.1H08, across all three. The exhibition’s own exhibitor directory lists the company under that booth number for each of those years.

Holding the same stand number matters to buyers more than it sounds. Stand allocation at this show is competitive, and a supplier that returns to the same position edition after edition is a supplier that has been through the renewal cycle three times. For a buyer planning factory visits around the fair, it also means the stand you visited last year is the stand you will find this year.

Across those editions LBS has shown professional audio cable from its loudspeaker cable, audio signal cable, DMX and lighting control, network cable, AV cable and connector ranges.

For the 2027 edition, buyers who want to work through a specification sheet in advance can send it through the enquiry form on this site; the same construction, screening, jacket and delivery-format lines apply whether the conversation happens at a stand or by email.

A broader set of buyer-facing guides — specification, termination and selection — is collected in the resources section.

Prolight + Sound Guangzhou 2027 runs 27-30 May 2027 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex.
