This 2 × 0.75 mm² speaker cable is a flat two-core parallel construction: the two insulated cores are moulded side by side in one flat profile, joined by a thin web. Pulled along a floor edge, behind a plinth or under a carpet, it stays flat instead of rotating, which is why the same cable is sold as figure-8 speaker cable, zip cord or flat speaker wire. The nominal O.D. of the 2 × 0.75 mm² size in this series is 3.5 × 7 mm. Cross-section sets the conductor resistance and therefore the loss over a given run, so the size should follow the run length and the load rather than the other way round; the length-versus-gauge table is in the speaker cable gauge guide.
